My First Australian Summer (a recap)
Fav beaches in Sydney, cool events, great eats, and personal reflections
✺ ✺ ✺ It's almost hitting the 6-month mark since my move from London to Sydney. I can hardly believe how quickly time has flown. It feels almost surreal that it's been this long already. This week, I am taking a step back and reflecting on my very first summer Down Under, diving into the experiences and discoveries that have made my bucket list a little shorter. So, I'm bringing you a mix of the little joys and big moments that have caught my eye and moved my soul including fav beaches, live events and fine dining I enjoyed in and around Sydney.
My beach bum tour I've ticked off my bucket list all the Eastern beaches, from Bondi to Coogee, since moving to Sydney. I particularly loved Clovelly for swimming as its gentle waves are safer than other beaches where the sea can be quite rough. At Gordon’s Bay, I felt brought back to the kind of secluded spots you'd find in Spain or Italy, with its rock-strewn edges rather than sandy shores. There, I experienced snorkelling for the first time and even spotted a stingray! Tamarama beach is another quiet favourite, perfect for catching those breathtaking sunsets Sydney is known for. Reflecting on my inaugural beach bum tour, it’s clear I’m drawn more to the serene, less crowded beaches than the bustling, well-known ones like Bondi (although it’s objectively very beautiful too).
